This post should have happened around the middle of March, right around the time we were getting ready for our biggest home project yet - renovating our downstairs bath. We came up with what we thought was a reasonable timeline after consulting with my Dad. The bathroom was going to take several (SEVERAL!) weeks to complete. We needed to stick to a strict timeline that fit between our old and new tenants, mainly because we needed to use the bathroom upstairs while ours was torn apart. This is definitely the downside of having only one bath in each unit.

Prior to ripping out downstairs apart, we decided to take a trip, deciding on Savannah, GA. It was needed since we hadn’t taken a trip since the Keys last year and our lives in the near future would be consumed by this reno. 

What can be said about Savannah? So much to do, so much to see, and all just a few hours away! The entire city is walkable, with a drink in-hand no less. Being restoration / history / old home nuts, Savannah was right up our alley. You'll never regret going if given the opportunity.

After GA, we hit up the ST. Pete Grand Prix with some of our close peeps.  Awesome view, awesome people, and awesome noise!  Our ears were ringing until mid-week.

Next up: the long-awaited (dreaded) bathroom remodel, most likely broken down into a series of smaller posts so we can touch on the critical stuff without making a book out of it or going insane.

So where to begin… The last seven months have been complete chaos.

Let’s backtrack. One Saturday morning, after a very fun evening out, Josh and I woke up to an email from our tenants. It was time. After five years of essentially being roommates, they put in their notice and would be leaving us. To be honest, it was bitter sweet. You grow comfortable. But this also presented an opportunity. One we knew would be on short notice. A renovation…

The Downstairs Bathroom.  Little did we know at the time, what a headache it would grow to be.

I laugh now, looking back at what we got ourselves into. I said “no big deal.” We can take on rehabbing upstairs for someone new and do the bathroom. We‘re young and invincible. This will take 6 weeks max.  Right?! Ha

We probably should have updated this blog as we went along. It probably would have offered some stress relief. But we didn’t.  We barely had time to take a shit. Literally. Or a toilet for that matter. So you will find posts over the next couple of weeks as we start unloading pictures of reno.

January 2015

Welcome 2015!

With a new year comes new projects. General around the house stuff and some bigger ones underway. Here we go...

We started off with some minor stuff in the court yard. 

Below is a Bleeding Heart. It started off as just a small plant about 2.5 feet tall. Over the last 2 years, it has really taken off. We started training it in the Fall to come up and around the lights. 

Just messing around before we get started on this January morning...

So you may have noticed over the last year a little tree beginning to grow. We planted an avocado pit and its really taken off. I'm so proud of it. We had to upgrade to a new pot. 

The next weekend, we did some much needed pressure washing to the front brick sidewalk and planted some hydrangeas for the new season.

So, back to the big projects. With some help from my dad, we're working toward finally getting the exterior white trim repainted. But first, we need to remove the old paint and fill in the gaps.

Enjoyed an evening at another local brewery. It inspired us to finally get the ball rolling to brew some our own. 

We had these made up over the holidays. I can't wait to try some in 5 weeks.

Last little project for the month. Decided to spice up the chairs in the kitchen. They were kind of plan. Just some new fabric and a little paint. They look brand new. 

So we're off to a good start this year. I'm confident we'll make it through the list... and then some! 

We'll end the month with some puppy love <3
